This project shows how to experiment with 3D scanning using every day supplies such as  ink or milk. The basic idea behind this process is that you can capture the silhouette of an object easily when it is surrounded by high contrast fluid. By lowering an object into the fluid, different stages of its submersion can be recorded as slices, which can later be stacked together and interpreted as 3D data. This is the data, which can then be used in animation software or as basis for 3D printing. more...
