This artwork is a mirror which detects and scrutinises the faces of the people looking into it. Rather than trying to identify the person, the software developed for this interactive installation probes for facial features and characteristics that are similar to one of the over 250 pre-selected persons in the database: all chosen for their controversial or infamous acts, but at the same time people that contributed to our contemporary culture.
Day after day the artist Christin Lahr transfers 1 Euro Cent to the German Federal Ministry of Finance. Each time she consecutively copies 108 characters of Karl Marx' "CAPITAL - A Critique of Political Economy" into the 'reason for payment' box of the transfer form---All the way until the German Federal Bank will have the complete work of text on their bank account.
