transmediale und Mozilla schreiben gemeinsam den Open Web Award aus, eine Plattform für herausragende kreative und künstlerische Ansätze neben dem transmediale Award 2011 und dem Vilém Flusser Theory Award 2011.
Der Open Web Award zeichnet radikale, offene und kreative Kunstwerke & Projekte aus, die:
- Im Internet stattfinden
- Freie und offene Technologien einsetzen
- Partizipation und Zusammenarbeit fördern
Es können sowohl kritische als auch unterhaltsame Arbeiten (gern auch beides) eingereicht werden. Die Projekte sollten sich auf die Potenziale des Open Web beziehen und diese in verschiedener Hinsicht reflektieren. Einreichungen, die sich auf die kreativen Möglichkeiten von HTML 5 und andere offene Webtechnologien beziehen, werden besonders berücksichtigt.
Wir wünschen uns Projekte, die sowohl mit den Ideen als auch den konkreten Ergebnissen des Open Web spielen und dadurch neue Perspektiven bzw. kreative Praktiken aufzeigen.
Der/die Gewinner des Open Web Award 2011 wird einen Gesamtpreis in Höhe von 5.000 EURO erhalten und auf der Mozilla Drumbeat Plattform <http://drumbeat.org> offiziell unterstützt. Neben den genannten spezifischen Anforderungen der Open Web Award–Ausschreibung gelten dieselben Regeln und Bedingungen wie für den transmediale Award 2011.

Die transmediale Ausstellung urban topos / edge city eröffnet am 15. August 2010 um 18 Uhr im Today Art Museum in Beijing. urban topos / edge city wurde von unseren Partnern Art Claims Impulse (Melanie Zagrean und Pierre Wolter) mit kuratiert und zeigt die aktuellen Arbeiten von Julian Oliver, Matthias Fritsch, Martin Howse, Andreas Fischer / Benjamin Maus, Tudor Bratu, Michelle Teran, Marc Aschenbrenner, Dave Ball, Adam Somlai Fischer / Bengt, Sjølen / Usman Haque, Maria Vedder, Boredom Research, Niklas Goldbach, Dave Ball, Mader / Stublic / Wiermann und Miles Chalcraft.
Die Ausstellung, die durch die Unterstützung des Goethe-Institutes in Beijing ermöglicht wurde, ist bis zum 29. August täglich geöffnet.

In Kooperation mit dem Marshall McLuhan Salon der Kanadischen Botschaft und DOCK e.V. in Berlin präsentiert die transmediale das Programm McLuhn in Europa 2011.
Im Rahmen dieses Programmes laden wir Organisationen aus ganz Europa dazu ein, Partnerschaftsprojekte einzureichen, die McLuhan's intellektuelles Erbe und seinen wissenschaftlichen und künstlerischen Einfluss in Europa thematisieren. Heute findet der zweite Book Sprint zum Thema Collaborative Futures statt. Dieses Projekt wurde als Weltpremiere für das transmediale.10 Festival im Februar diesen Jahres initiiert. Heute, Freitag, 25. Juli 2010, wird die neue Ausgabe Collaborative Futures II von Eyebeam.org in New York produziert.

transmediale in collaboration with Mozilla have announced the creation of the new Open Web Award 2011 a special third platform for creative excellence alongside the transmediale Award 2011 and the Vilém Flusser Theory Award 2011.
The transmediale Open Web Award is a new platform for radical, creative and innovative art works and projects that:
- are on the web and about the web
- use open and free technology
- incite participation and/or collaboration
They can be critical, celebratory or both. Projects should have the potential to demonstrate and/or objectively critique the potential of open web issues, and those employing the creative use of HTML5 and other developing 'open' technologies will be given specific consideration. The point is to play with both the idea and materiality of the (open) web in ways that spark new thinking and practice.
The winner(s) of the Open Web Award 2011 will receive a total prize of 5000 EUR, and be given the opportunity to have 'supported' status on Drumbeat <http://drumbeat.org>. Beyond the specific Open Web Award criteria, the same rules, conditions and application procedures apply as the transmediale Award 2011.
